Player Summary:

RS senior from Memphis, TN. Recruited as an EDGE, he has bulked up from 270 pounds to almost 320. Primarily plays 3T, but is used at every position along the line in his current system. Broad shoulders. Carries bad weight, has a pot belly. Thick thighs, wide hips, but calves are still smaller. His body needs more development to clean up the bad weight. Adequate get off, but below-average speed for his position. Still has some bend ability despite the added weight. Adequate enough athleticism to two-gap at the next level. High level upper body strength, but lower body strength looks lacking and limits his ability to anchor against elite blockers at the POA. Does a nice job of taking on double teams and splitting them, but has poor foot drive and can get driven downfield if blockers take away his momentum. Excellent vision, does not lose the ball carrier in traffic. Does a nice job of hand fighting and has great placement when engaging blockers. High level horizontal quickness, uses it well in sequence with his rip move. Violent stack and shed, tosses capable blockers to the side. Needs to come into plays with a better plan on how to attack blockers, reacts rather than setting up moves and struggles if his first move doesn’t work. Plays with decent contact balance, stays upright and in the play. Plays within the scheme, does not take himself out of his gap or out of position. Effort is there, but conditioning is a limiting factor in his motor and pursuit. Struggles to maintain foot drive and plays too high when he’s tired. Reaches the ball carrier with aggression and intent to finish plays. If he can reshape his body to shed the bad weight, Gregory could be a starter as a professional. Best game – Ole Miss, worst game – LSU

Scheme Fit:

Projects to be play 3 Tech in a scheme that works out of even fronts

Power Statement:

Gregory is a high potential player that could be a starter quality player by reshaping his body, but is a capable player that can contribute in a two-deep in his current state. I would expect him to be drafted in the late day 2 – early day 3 range in the 2024 draft.
