Five best undrafted free agent signings after the 2019 NFL Draft
The NFL draft is over and tons of players were signed moments after the draft. Many of the players will get a chance to prove the critics wrong and the other 31 teams that passed on them. There are so many to choose from but I wanted to talk about the five best players signed after the draft who will have the best chance of making a 53 man roster. You can see all the UDFA signings here on our UDFA Tracker.
1.) Carolina Panthers – The team only signed four UDFA’s and while many will think that Elijah Holyfield will have the best chance to make the team, I feel Damion Jeanpiere Jr will be the one that shines. Jeanpiere is use to being overlooked. The wide receiver from Nichols State has speed and ability to make you miss. He should have been drafted and he is one of my favorite UDFA signings.
2.) Buffalo Bills – The Bills signed Davis Sills and that is an amazing signing but to me Tyree Jackson is the bigger signing. The Bills have Josh Allen, Matt Barkley and Derek Anderson in their QB’s room. Tyree Jackson the former UB Bull gunslinger would be a huge asset to the Bills if they kept him. Derek Anderson is likely to retire, and if he does I could see Tyree making the 53 man roster and Anderson being brought on to coach.
3.) Detroit Lions – The Lions signed Wisconsin OL Beau Benzshawel, a guy I thought was a fourth round pick after evaluating the film. It is hard to find a good and solid offensive lineman and I feel Beau is a guy that could end up starting by the end of the year. I would not be shocked if that happens.
4.) Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins signed WR Preston Williams from Colorado State. He is going to come in with a huge chip on his shoulder after not hearing his name called. I hope he dominates because this kid can do it all. He is a huge target and the Dolphins now have a young quarterback to get him the ball. I think Preston can make this team.
5.) Tennessee Titans – The Titans signed Boston College cornerback Hamp Cheevers and I feel he was one of the most underrated players in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Titans could use some depth at the cornerback position and I can see Hamp fighting for a spot on the roster. He will have to beat out former Missouri Western CB Michael Jordan for the final spot though. That will be a tough task.
