Who is do you think is the best overall quarterback currently playing in the NFL?
To me when you look at the quarterback position and you have a debate you better be ready for any and everything some one is going to throw at you. This is a touchy subject because everyone’s undies become tangled. They get upset and try to defend their guy. Well just to give you a head’s up now, I am a Buffalo Bills fan, and I cannot even talk about that position, so here we go.
There are only three quarterbacks I feel you can put in this category right now. I believe that Aaron Rodgers will be a very good quarterback, but he is not on this list right now because he has not played long enough to be the best. So here are my top three, you can drag me all you want but let’s see how our’s match up.
The person I feel is better than any quarterback in the NFL right now and maybe the best ever in the history of the game is Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning has been a stud since 1999. I will not put 1998 in their because he was horrible his rookie season. Manning is second all time in passing yards with 62,736 and is in second place in most touchdowns passed with 469. He has been in the league now for 15 years, which is more than the other two guys on my list, but he is still playing at a very high level. This year he will probably break almost every single season record.
My second player is a bit of a shocker, but I really feel that Drew Brees is the second best quarterback in the league. Stats don’t lie people and for a guy that was horrible for the San Diego Chargers, he has really stepped up his game with Sean Payton in New Orleans. Did you know that Drew Brees has more passing yards and passing touchdowns than Tom Brady? So before you get your panties all bunched up, let me explain why I say he is my second. Drew Brees has only been in the league since 2001, and also sat time out with injuries just like Peyton and Tom have. The crazy thing though is Drew Brees is in 6th ALL TIME in passing yards and 4th ALL TIME in touchdowns. I know stats aren’t everything, but the guy is a winner. I just cannot think that a guy with a year on Tom Brady who is already over him in stats will not shatter tons of records.
The last player, as mentioned above is Tom Brady. Tom Brady is a legend folks, and while I am not a big fan of his because he whoops my Bills all the time, you have to take into affect that he sat behind Drew Bledsoe in New England before getting his shot. As a sixth round draft pick, he has really stepped up. He is seventh all time in passing yards and 5th all time in passing touchdowns. I will not take anything away from these guys, because they can all play for my team, but I would like to know what you feel?
