What team I feel has the most attractive position for a new head coach

My top team in terms of attractiveness was filled last night when the Houston Texans signed Bill O’Brien the former Penn State head coach. In his last 2 years at State College he was 15-9, but was itching to get back to the NFL.  O’Brien served as an assistant for many years with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.  While I feel that was a good move, there are still some attractive spots open if you are a new coach or an older coach trying to come back.

Detroit Lions might have the next best looking roster in terms of star players and solidity.  I think you cannot go wrong with Matthew Stafford, Ndamukong Suh and Calvin Johnson on your roster.  The only thing is I would expect them to lean towards the defensive side of the ball.  The offense has never really had issues besides Stafford throwing big time picks, but the Defense needs some building in the secondary.  Last years draft was solid and gave the Lions some valuable pieces. This Lions job is attractive, and I would not be surprised to see Lovie Smith get this job.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers spot is next on my list.  While people might look at me and laugh, listen they have some monsters on that defense.  I would expect them to sign a defensive minded coach as well.  I know they want Lovie Smith, but Lovie might not make it out of Detroit.  Tampa Bay could be forced to do some real coach searching, but one thing is for sure I think Jay Gruden would love to coach them.  If Lovie falls through, expect Gruden to at least get an interview.

I love the Cleveland Browns roster, they are not that far away either in my opinion. I feel that the Browns can sign a free agent running back like Ben Tate, and draft a quarterback to be set.  The Browns defense was pretty solid last season, but a good free agency and draft could have this team a contender in no time.  I would expect them to go and get a person that can work with a quarterback.  If Josh McDaniels lands the job with the Browns expect them to draft Johnny Manziel in Cleveland.

Minnesota Vikings might be in a better spot than anyone, but they are so inconsistent at quarterback it really can scare you. This year there are only four real free agent quarterbacks, and technically Matt Schaub. If the Vikings can land Matt Schaub and draft O-line, it could work out for everyone.  Schaub is a solid quarterback, and it will allow Ponder and Cassel (who has the option to opt out of 2014) a chance to compete for the starting job.  This will make a coaches job a little more easy.

People don’t like the Washington Redskins roster, and I am with them.  To be honest RG3 and Kirk Cousins have not been that great this year, and all it took was one year of film for the NFL to shut down RG3.  I believe that he was the reason the team declined, because of his attitude.  If the Redskins want to hire a coach, they better get someone very experienced, that is going to limit RG3 from being in the media all the time, and more focused on football.
