Vontaze Burfict continues to prove critics wrong
I remember doing my first NFL interview with Vontaze Burfict. The interview was days before the NFL Draft when all of the critics were dragging the former Arizona State standout for character issues. I remember how humble Vontaze was, telling me about his life story and it made me love the kid, because he truly had a rough life. Well after a few amazing seasons in the NFL, Burfict is now looking at a new contract extension.
The Bengals were the only team willing to give him a shot and it was all he needed. He has proven a lot of people wrong so far as Burfict has become a staple on the Bengals’ defense. In his two seasons with the team, he’s amassed 298 tackles with four sacks and eight passes defended, while at the same time not causing any sort of stir whatsoever and garnering the respect of his teammates and other players in the league.
Burfict earned a trip to the Pro Bowl last year, and now is expected to be demanding 9 million a year.
