Packers lose rookie wide receiver to torn ACL

Jared Abbrederis was drafted by the Packers, and now he will have to wait til next year to play after suffering a torn ACL.

“These things happen,” Abbrederis said to reporters late Saturday night. “You just have to look to the positives, try to find positives. I’m just ready to get to work, get surgery, get it fixed it up and get ready for next year.”

Abbrederis did confirm that he tore his ACL and suffered no further damage to his right knee. Looking back, he believes he suffered the injury on a play during Wednesday’s practice — at the time he didn’t think much of it, but he will miss quite a bit of time.

The team also might have lost Colt Lyerla who was carted off the field. Lyerla could have a serious injury. He was seen after the practice on crutches.
