Niners sign former MSU RB with checkered past

Jim Harbaugh said the 49ers had just 69 players on their 90-man roster available for practice today, with four of those being specialists. So today the team signed Glenn Winston, 25, who was arrested twice at Michigan State before he was dismissed from the team, finished his career at Division II Northwood University in Midland, Mich. He ran for 717 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games.

Winston (6-1, 225) served jail terms of four and six months after he was arrested twice for physical assault for on-campus fights during his two-season career at Michigan State. He was dismissed from the program in November 2009.
