Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field? 

I completed an internship at Believers Academy. It’s a summer camp counseling kids ages 5 to18 that were mentally and socially challenged coming from less fortunate homes.  It was great seeing those kids happy and feeling like their big brother. It was the best job I ever had!

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Business Law

Where are you from?

Ivory Coast (French is my native language) I learned to speak English when I move here to the United States in 2004.

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my Mother Linda. As a single parent she raised my little sister and I. She never made excuses and gave us an example of hard work. No matter what the situation she made it work. Everything I work towards is to return the favor. 

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I Played soccer my whole life up until 9th grade of high school. My cousin plays professionally for the Portland Timbers. 

Did you play any other positions in football?

Running Back (HS)

At your position, what separates you from others? 

My relentless approach to the quarterback. I find a way to make plays when my team needs me. I don’t complain or make excuses, I just work and find a way to defeat whoever / whatever is in front of me. Also, my ability to force fumbles, I have a great knack for getting the ball out, not just making the tackle. I do whatever is necessary to give my team the best opportunity to win the game.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for my opponents weaknesses and his bad habits and use that to my advantage

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

My Junior College teammate Dominique Harris was pretty good

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Marshawn Lynch and JJ Watt, those two guys play every play like it’s their last and I do the same. They play clean to the whistle but give a 100 percent effort every single play.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it? 

My Mother, little sister, and I escape the civil war in West Africa where my mother is from (Liberia). A few years after we came to the U.S. my little sister passed away at 8 years old. It was very tough, I wanted it to be me not my little sister. When it happened I wanted to go back to Africa and just give up on life because it hurt so bad seeing my mother hurt the way she was. All i’ve ever wanted in life was to grow up having a family.  There will always be a missing part in me and my mothers life. My Mothers view of life hasn’t been the same ever since. I use that as my motivation because I know God puts us through obstacles in life because he knows it will only make us better moving forward. Overcoming that has been difficult but I strive to make my mom and sister proud everyday.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

None. 

What is your biggest strength?

My quickness, strength and speed are my greatest attributes. I also have a low center of gravity with long arms which helps set the edge, split double teams, and utilizing my leverage to over power offensive linemen. 

What is your biggest weakness?

My height, I think its part of my strengths but when people evaluate me they see I’m not 6″4 and knock my size.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say? 

Talent is God given. What you do with your talent displays character. I’m no talker, I don’t want hand outs, I’m want to earn mine!  I’m here today because I witnessed my mothers’ work ethic. We got knocked down but that only made us work harder. I learned how to work hard and I know how to get what I want. Nothing in life is given. I don’t rely on my God given talent. I rely on my preparation. I spend hours in the film room, I ask questions non stop because I want to be GREAT. My attention to detail, my desire to want to stay after practice to set the tone for the team. I have always been the best player on the team and being the hardest worker has made the entire team better. I am a winner from my high school days, to Junior College days to Fort Hayes State. I talk with my helmet, shoulder pads and my work ethic. I’m a no sir, yes sir kind of guy. I never relied on talent or my natural ability, only on my work ethic and preparation. I will never be a trouble maker off the field.

Marshawn Lynch, Pittsburgh Steelers

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

My mother, little sister who passed away, and my father who I only met once before he was murdered during the war when I was 6 or 7 years old.

What will be the first big item you buy once you are in the NFL?

I will buy everyone that stuck with me since day one a great dinner. I may not buy myself anything that first check because I know not to blow all your money but when I can I will I will buy a BMW X5 M sport package. I’ve never had a car in my life and to me buying a car like that will tell me ” YOU MADE IT SIE DOE JR. YOUR FAITH IN GOD AND HARD WORK PAID OFF, SIE. HERE’S YOUR THANK YOU FOR STICKING WITH IT.”
