Today the New York football Giants signed former Northern Iowa wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield. Sinkfield is like a cat, the guy has 9 lives, he has been from team to team since entering the NFL, but somehow always lands on his feet. Sinkfield was previously with the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. Sinkfield is stupid fast and could be a good fill in for the injured Victor Cruz during preseason.
We had the pleasure to sit down with the man that ran the 4.19 forty yard dash earlier this year, check out our interview with Sinkfield below:
Our writer Shaun DePasquale had the pleasure to interview Terrell.
Shaun DePasquale: Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Terrell.. Can you tell me where you’re trained for the NFL?
Terrell Sinkfield: I trained with a trainer named Mark Ellis at Augsburg College and at the University of Minnesota.
SD: What do you feel are your strengths and weaknesses (things you may need to work on)?
TS: Speed! Athleticism, ability to catch, and strong hands. Things I’d like to work on would be precision on routes, and getting in and out of breaks.
SD: How do you feel your time at Northern Iowa helped you prepare for the NFL?
TS: My time at Northern Iowa helped me grow into a man, transition into adulthood and mature. I did alot of growing up and maturing over the years and I feel I’m ready to be a true professional.
SD: What do you feel you bring to an NFL offense?
TS: Speed. I can take the top off of a defense. I’m versatile. You can line me up in the backfield, and I can also play special teams. I can play anywhere you put me.
SD: What feedback did you receive from scouts after your tremendous Pro Day performance?
TS: Scouts were satisfied. They told me whether the stopwatches were at 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3, fast is fast and I have nothing to worry about. My agent has been getting calls about me all day.
SD: What has been your greatest accomplishment, athletically or personally ?
TS: Honestly it would be (today’s) Pro Day performance at the University of Minnesota. Being able to run a 4.19 40 yard dash in front of those scouts, I wasn’t surprised. I know I’m capable of ripping off a 4.2 40 yard dash anytime, but getting their attention like that was special.
SD: If you could have dinner with any 3 people, living or otherwise, who would they be and why?
TS: Jesus, Deion Sanders/Leon Sandcastle, and my grandfather
SD: Give me the name of a teammate that isn’t talked about nearly enough.
TS: I would say our DB at Northern Iowa Varmah Sonie. He’s a good corner, but doesn’t get the recognition. He can guard anybody.
SD: Last question, what would be your first purchase with an NFL paycheck?
TS: I will get myself a new car.
SD: Thank you so much for your time Terrell. Good luck in your journey!
