Fran Tarkenton says when he grades a QB he looks to see if he makes plays not mechanics

I don’t know if you can say this for all quarterbacks, but you could have definitely said it about Fran Tarkenton, who was an electrifying quarterback. Johnny Manziel is a lot similar to Tarkenton, who was a machine for the old Purple People Eaters. Well today when he was asked about mechanics of a quarterback he had something to say to all the talent evaluators.

@ESPNNFL: “That’s how I judge a quarterback: Either you make plays or you don’t. I don’t even want to talk about mechanics” – Fran Tarkenton

When you read that quote you would assume that is correct, then you look at quarterbacks like Vince Young and Cade McNown. It will make you go back and look at mechanics.
