Former Vikings quarterback says Vikings would be Foolish to draft a QB at 8

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Rich Gannon the former Minnesota Vikings gunslinger believes the team would be “foolish” if the team selected a quarterback with the 8th pick in the NFL draft. Gannon went on to say:

“Based of my knowledge of these players that are coming out and the Vikings’ situation, I think they’d be foolish to take a quarterback at No. 8,” Gannon said. “That’s just my personal opinion. They’d be foolish.”

Gannon was more open toward the teams selecting a quarterback in the second round or later in the first round. But to take a quarterback inside the Top 10 with the options that would be available doesn’t make sense to Gannon.

“I don’t really have a first-round grade on any of [the quarterbacks],” Gannon said.

Rich Gannon was a pretty solid quarterback in the NFL, and when you look at this draft class, there truly is no Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson in this draft class. I am sorry, I too would not take a quarterback that early.  I would select the best player available rather than a team need.
