Formations Fantasy Football Review: New York Giants

The New York Giants had a down year in 2013 but hope to rebound in 2014. Eli Manning had a difficult year as well as many others on the offense. This is a new year and the Giants have players who can help your fantasy team.

Star: Victor Cruz (WR)

13 Stats: 73 catches-998 yards-4 TDs

Why He’s a Star: After 19 touchdowns between 2011 and 2012, Victor Cruz dipped down to only four last year. His targets, receptions, and yards also decreased in 2013 as well. However, I believe that Cruz will rebound under a new offensive coordinator and scheme. Cruz is a safe WR2 bet.

Avoid: Rashad Jennings (RB)

13 Stats: 163 carries-733 yards-6 TD, 36 catches-298 yards (in Oakland) Why to Avoid: Jennings is one of the hot names this offseason in fantasy football. He is coming off a career year in Oakland and seems to be the lead back with the Giants. There are some red flags though. Jennings has been little more than a career backup, is nearing his 30th birthday, and has a potentially healthy David Wilson and rookie Andre Williams lurking behind him. I would let someone else draft Jennings.

Sleeper: David Wilson (RB)

Why He’s A Sleeper: Last year was a disaster for David Wilson. He was the running back who was supposed to break out. However, a week one fumble shook his confidence and limited his playing time. When he did see the field, Wilson suffered a serious neck injury. If he is healthy, the former first round draft pick is the most talented running back on the roster. Wilson is worth a late round flier.

IDP to Watch: Jacquian Williams (LB)

13 Stats: 39 tackles-19 assists

Why: The numbers above are hardly eye-popping, but there’s more to Williams than that. Right now Williams is one of a dying breed: the three-down linebacker. In an ideal world Williams will not leave the field and rack up tackles. He is worth a stash at the end of your bench.
