Emmanuel Sanders wants to remain a Pittsburgh Steeler for the long haul

Sanders said he worked with the Steelers’ trainers on Tuesday and that he will get treatment on his knee Wednesday even though the players are off.

“I’m not 100 percent comfortable planting on it, things of that sort, because of the soreness, so we’re just going to take it day by day,” said Sanders, who has caught 65 passes for 714 yards and six touchdowns in his first season as a starter. “At some point I’ve got to make a decision of how comfortable I am, but the good thing is the game is a long way away.”

Sanders will be an unrestricted free agent in March, and his future in Pittsburgh is uncertain. Sanders was asked if he thought it would be his final game with the Steelers.

“I love it here,” Sanders said. “This is home to me. I hope everything works out for the best.”
