Eagles wanted C.J. Spiller from Buffalo before Sproles

CSNPhilly.com’s Geoff Mosher reported Monday that the Philadelpha Eagles reached out to the Buffalo Bills in hopes of trading for Buffalo’s explosive Pro Bowler C.J. Spiller.

The Bills reportedly showed no interest in shopping him, which led the Eagles to eventually complete a deal with the Saints for Darren Sproles in March.

NFL.com states that the team inquired about Spiller in February which means the team expected to release Desean Jackson the whole time.

Mosher places the Spiller inquiry as “likely” coming in February, another indication that Kelly had designs on cutting ties with DeSean Jackson months ago.
