Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Leevon Perry, DT, North Dakota State 
Not many people are aware who Leevon is, but if you were able to watch North Dakota State University this year in the FCS playoffs where they won their third consecutive championship, you will know Leevon. Leevon is a very big, physical defensive tackle that was a force in the middle against the run.  Perry had a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the FCS playoffs that ultimately sealed the victory for the Bisons. Perry is a guy that could sneak into a camp and never leave.  Scouts are raving about this big man’s motor, he could become the sleeper pick that nobody really talked about.
How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?
I had 7 schools recruiting me out of high school.

Where did you choose and why?
I choose NDSU because they came through on the little things that they promised.

What are your goals for your senior year?
For my senior year my goals were to graduate and win a third national championship.

Have any scouts met with you, and if so what are they saying?
Yes, they say they like my passion for the game and how physical I am.

At your position, what separates you from the others?
My quickness and athleticism

Tell us what you look for when breaking down film?
I look for tendencies that most offense’s have. When the backs in the I formation how many times do they run power and zone? When the guard is pulling is the tackle looking down? When they play in a loud environment do they have a snap key? On their pass sets after they get beat with power do they make up for it by jumping you in their sets?

Who was the toughest player you have ever faced?
Anthony Davis Towson University

If you could compare your play to one person in the NFL who would it be?
Ndamukong Suh, for his passion and intensity for the game and his overall physicality

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?
My surgeries, I got through them with a lot of rehab and support from family and teammates

What system fits your style of play the best?
The 4-3 defense, The defense that puts a lot of responsibility on the 3 technique

What is your biggest strength?
The fact I can run, and my relentless pursuit.

What is your biggest weakness?
I guess it would be not getting as much exposure as the bigger schools

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?
I am dedicated to be one of the best and you’ll receive all my focus and energy for as long as I am on your team.
Growing up, who was your role model?
My Mother

Who was your favorite team and player in the NFL and why?
Minnesota Vikings, Jared Allen I like the way he plays the game

What was the most tragic event that ever happened in your life and how did you overcome it?
Getting my knee blown out, I overcame it by working on everything else such as school upper body anything, then as soon as I was cleared I started working on my knee

If you were to have dinner with three people dead or alive who would it be?
Ernie Davis, Jackie Robinson, and Marc Johnson three people I’ve always had a lot of respect for and looked up to.
With your first paycheck what would you buy?
Give my mom whatever she needed to be good, then in the bank.
