Dolphins finally beat the Patriots; Tannehill shines in Phins first win since 2009

The Patriots have just about every team in the AFC East’s number, but Tom Brady had a lock on the Dolphins since 2009.  The Dolphins win over the Patriots today was their first since 2009.

Ryan Tannehill was excellent throwing downfield on Sunday, completing 12-of-18 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown on throws deeper than 10 yards downfield. Entering Sunday, only Carson Palmer had more interceptions on those throws than Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill was 4-of-7 for 90 yards and a touchdown targeting Mike Wallace on those throws. Wallace’s four catches on throws deeper than 10 yards downfield is a season high.

Ryan Tannehill’s Total QBR was 82.2 against the Patriots, his first game above 70.0 this season. Tannehill was 0-3 in his first 3 career games against the Pats with a 22.2 Total QBR. Tannehill has 4 straight games with a Total QBR above 60.0, the longest streak of his career.

Ryan Tannehill has progressed really well in Miami, and as of right now is looking better than RG3.  You have to love the Dolphins commitment to the pass. They have done a great job, and they deserved to win this game.
