Dan’s Week 6 Fantasy Matchups: Jets RB Bilal Powell a Solid Starter

Here are my list of players that have more than favorable fantasy match-ups and should be starting on your fantasy team week 6.

Tampa Bay WR Mike Williams vs Eagles secondary

Williams turned out to be one of rookie QB Mike Glennon’s more reliable targets in the intermediate against the stubborn Arizona Defense week 4 racking up 4 catches on 6 targets for 38 yards and a touchdown. This week, Tampa plays an Eagles defense that is tied for third worst in total pass yards allowed per game (326) and tied for 5th worst in passing touchdowns allowed (11). Although this would look like a more favorable matchup for Vincent Jackson, he is typically double covered on defense and Glennon also struggled to get him the ball (2 catches on 11 targets) in his lone start. The Eagles are ranked among the middle in terms of rush yards allowed per game, so Doug Martin may actually have a chance to impact the passing game. This spells out a formula for success for Tampa’s number two receiver, who has been a threat in the redzone all year and actually leads the Buccaneers receivers in touchdowns. I would take a chance playing Williams as the number 2 WR or even better, the flex position.

Houston Texans TE Garrett Graham

Garrett Graham is the next man up at tight end with Owen Daniels going on the return IR list today. Garrett inherits Daniels’s almost 9 targets a game and face a Rams defense who has given up 11 passing touchdowns, which is tied for 5th worst in the league. Combine this number with the Ram’s 16th ranked 256 passing yards allowed and tendency for short range touchdown emerges. Graham would be a good pick up for teams who owned Owen Daniel’s, have Tony Gonzalez on a bye, or are wary with other questionable tight ends like Martellus Bennett.

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III vs Cowboys Pass D

Bob Griffin is getting the benefit of the doubt from a very favorable matchup versus the Dallas Cowboy secondary. The Cowboys have given up 326.4 passing yards per game, 2nd only to the Denver Broncos for worst in the league. The Cowboys have also given up a league worst, 14 touchdowns. Now, Dallas does have a very stout run defense, allowing 82.8 yards per game (4th best) and 2 total rushing TD’s (tied 4th best). This suggests that RG3 will have another game of high volume of pass attempts.

Jets RB Bilal Powell vs Steelers Run D

Powell is the Jet’s workhorse back who faces a Steeler defense that has allowed 122 yards per game (8th worst) and 6 rushing TD’s (2nd worst) so far this year. Although he typically averages about 13 rushes a game, Powell may have a performance similar to his performance of 27 carry, 149 yard against Buffalo in week 3. This is due to the Steelers great pass defense that has only allowed 199 passing yards per game (5th best) and a league best 0 passing TD’s allowed. Powell should be solid in the RB2 spot.
