Cowboys have a new 40 million dollar man; Sean Lee signs contract for 42 million

Yesterday the Dallas Cowboys locked up linebacker Sean Lee to a six year deal, but nobody was talking about the numbers of the contract.  Well today per ESPN Dallas/Forth Worth, the deal could be worth as much as 51 million including a 10 million dollars signing bonus, but the best value of the deal is worth 42 million, WOW.

Lee signed a six-year extension Wednesday worth as much as $51 million, including a $10 million signing bonus, according to a source. The base value of the deal is $42 million. He will make a $630,000 base salary in 2013, and will have base salaries of $5.5 million (2014), $2.5 million (’15) and $3 million (’16), with $7 million base salaries from 2017 to ’19.

To be honest this is a huge signing by the Cowboys, last year before his injury Sean Lee was an animal on the field.  The Cowboys are doing the right thing by locking up their star players.  I think this is the Cowboys year, they will go deep in the playoffs, especially if their new “40 million dollar man” stays healthy.
