Carolina Panthers claim small school linebacker from Raiders

Billy Boyko is a 6-2, 240 pound linebacker was a full time starter for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks over the past four seasons. He led the team with 104 tackles as a senior last year. He would help the Moutain Hawks to a 10-1 record including an impressive comeback win in the season finale against rival Lafayette.

He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent, but the team cut ties with him yesterday.  Well today he has a new home.  The Carolina Panthers claimed him off the waivers.  The Panthers were not a team that showed much interest in him, but they must like his size and playmaking abilities.  He reminds me a lot of Falcons linebacker Paul Worrilow.
