Bills QB Manuel will be playing with a heavy heart tonight for Breast Cancer Awareness

EJ Manuel was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft this year and one of the best stories of the night was when he gave his mother a hug and shed tears with her.  EJ’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and was ruled cancer free back on February 1st, Manuel tweeted it out to the world that day.

Thank you everyone for your prayers! My mom is a #survivor! Cancer free! #GodIsGood! Can’t express how happy I am

Well since that day, EJ has been pretty impressive by leading the Bills to a 2-2 start beating the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers on a last second pass to Stevie Johnson. Manuel will be playing with a heavy heart because Breast Cancer means so much to the quarterback.

Before the year started the rookie pledged to donate $1,000 for every touchdown he makes this season. That 1,000 dollars will go to Camp Kesem, which helps children cope when their mother has breast cancer.

Manuel remarks, “When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, my life changed. Camp Kesem’s mission is one that I support deeply as I can relate directly to each camper they help. I am honored to be a part of Scoring For Good and cannot wait to start scoring for Camp Kesem.”

Hopefully EJ will be able to donate a few thousands of dollars tonight to a great cause. It would make a great story line to see Manuel get the win and a few touchdowns for Breast Cancer Awareness.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it seems pretty amazing that EJ is the one that plays in the first game of the month.
