If you base the top 100 list on last years performance alone, Is Aaron Rodgers a top 10 player?

There is a lot of confusion with the NFL Network’s top 100 list, but I would like to know what you all think. If you base the list on the performance of last year alone, is Aaron Rodgers a top 10 player?  He came in at number 11 and that had a lot of people upset.  That top 100 list is supposedly made up of input from around the NFL, basically from the players, but that was even called into question when Donte Whitner the new Cleveland Browns safety stated that he wanted to know who made the list and what players voted on the list?  He stated everyone he talked to from San Francisco stated they did not vote.

ESPN NFL Insider Mike Sando polled 26 front-office executives and coaches and found that Aaron Rodgers — along with Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning — belonged in the top-tier of quarterbacks. Even more telling was that the four tied for the top spot in the voting.

Yet when the NFL Network solicited the advice of current NFL players for its latest top 100 list, the Green Bay Packers quarterback came in as merely the 11th-best player in the league regardless of position

So let’s look at the stats from around the league to see if Rodgers deserves to be in the top 10 from last year.

We already know that Richard Sherman, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady should all be on that top 100 list.  That is 4 players who I consider locks, along with Lesean McCoy and Adrian Peterson.  So that leaves just 4 spots left.  Is Aaron Rodgers worthy of a top 10 spot?

If you look at the wide receiver you have to put Megatron on the list, he is by far the best wide out in the game, but none of these three wide outs are on the list, A.J. Green, Julio Jones or Roddy White.  I am not saying all three deserve to be a top ten guy, but they are pretty impressive.  When  you look at the tight end position, I think we can all admit that Jimmy Graham could be a top ten player.

I don’t know about you, but Aaron Rodgers could have easily been on this list. His statistics last year were bad though. Last year Aaron Rodgers finished the season 25th overall in passing yards. I know he was injured for a majority of the season, but it depends how you were picking your choice. If you are going off of this year’s stats, Matthew Stafford should be a top ten guy. He finished third in the NFL in passing yards with 4,650 yards.  If you are going with best players, how is Reggie Wayne not on this list?  Or Antonio Gates?

I am not saying the NFL is wrong for their list, but obviously there is something wrong with the people picking the best players.  I would not worry too much at this list, because it does not define a career.
