Hello Jack! Thanks for taking the time to speak with me. How are you doing? What are you up to these days? Please introduce yourself to our readers!

Hey Naol, I’m doing well! These days I’m finishing up the last semester of my undergraduate degree. I’ll be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Kinesiology. In addition to my studies, I’m doing just about everything I can to be prepared for the National Combine at the end of the month.

What got you into football? & Why do you enjoy playing football?

I started playing football when I was about 6 years old and have loved it ever since. My dad played in high school and he’s the one who put me in the sport. Initially, I was trying out different sports as many young kids do, but I grew a passion for football and decided to commit to it. Since then football has been a huge part of my life and I hope to continue playing. What I enjoy most about football is the combination of competition and teamwork. Day in and day out you compete with your rivals, your teammates, and even yourself. But at the end of the day, when you run out onto the field, you do it as a team. I think this combination is what makes the game so addicting to play.

What are your goals as a football player and as an overall person?

As a football player, my big picture goal is to not only make it to the CFL but to become a successful, consistent player and ultimately help an organization win a Grey Cup. Of course, in order to do this, I need to make it to the CFL. Therefore, my current goal and number one priority is preparing for the CFL Combine to put myself in the best possible position entering the draft.

My goal is to continue working my butt off to one day be in a position to provide my family with all of the opportunities I have been given. My parents have worked hard to put me in the position I am in and the absolute last thing I will do is let that go to waste.

How do you feel going into the CFL national combine?

I feel good. My trainer Jesse Collins from Collins Athletic Performance has me on a very well thought out training regimen. I’ve been following the schedule strictly for a few months now and am feeling healthy and ready to go.

What was your best game last season? How did you feel after the game?

Last season my best game was probably against the Laurier Goldenhawks. This was my best game because I was flying around the field and making plays on defense and special teams. Although we were unable to secure the victory, it was a good game against our crosstown rivals.

What’s your typical fitness routine?

My fitness/training routine changes over the course of the year. Depending if I’m in season, or at various points of the offseason, my training routine will change. However, overall my regimen consistently involves resistance training, speed training, football specific training, and a heavy emphasis on mobility.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

Over the course of my football career, I’ve been lucky to play in a large variety of defensive schemes and have found positives in all of them. For example, playing in a 3-4 defense for the early part of my university career involved a lot of moving parts and different looks, versus playing a 4-3 defense in my final year that relied more on fundamentals and execution. Overall both were a lot of fun to play in.

What would you tell a team during a draft interview?

During an interview I would tell a team that by selecting me in the draft, they will be getting a determined, well-rounded football player who wants an opportunity to contribute to an organization in any way possible.

What would you tell aspiring football athletes?

That as long as they stay the course and outwork their opponents, they will always come out successful.
