Six Free Agent Quarterback Moves | Bold Predictions

The Quarterbacks are the most interesting parts in Free Agency, and this year there are a lot of missing pieces. We at NFL Draft Diamonds wanted to have some fun and put together six bold predictions and pick which team lands which free agent quarterback.

Jimmy Garoppolo to Houston Texans – The Houston Texans need a starter and Jimmy G is sitting there. This move makes the most sense, because Garoppolo has a relationship with the Texans GM Nick Caserio. I think the Texans will still be in the market for a quarterback long term, but they have their eyes set on Hendon Hooker. Do not be surprised if the Texans trade up into the back-end of the first round to take the Tennessee gunslinger to learn from Jimmy!

Baker Mayfield to Las Vegas Raiders – The Raiders are not going to wait for Aaron Rodgers. They need a quarterback and they can get the former first overall pick in Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is a fiery player who can come in and help lead the Raiders right away. He is a cheap option and they could end up taking Will Levis in the first to let him groom behind Baker.

Jameis Winston to Denver Broncos – Russell Wilson is on a short leash and Jameis Winston is not afraid to sling the rock. Sean Payton knows this and Jameis landing on Denver as the back-up makes too much sense. If Russell Wilson does not do well after the Broncos add multiple offensive lineman in free agency, they Broncos can replace Russ with Jameis who can get the ball out.

Gardner Minshew to Arizona Cardinals – Cardinals will need a stop gap starter for six weeks at least, and Gardner Minshew has a rapport with Jonathan Gannon. I think the Cardinals sign Minshew and allow him to start for several weeks before Kyler Murray does in fact return.

Carson Wentz to Dallas Cowboys – Dak Prescott does not have a back-up and the Cowboys can land a former high draft pick to come in and sit behind Dak. Wentz has a big arm and is willing to take a cheaper salary to compete. I think Wentz could be a huge signing for the Cowboys to ensure they have a solid back up.

Taylor Heinecke to Miami Dolphins – The Miami Dolphins do not have a back up and they are going all in this year. With Tua’s health issues, Heinecke can come in and help immediately if something happens to Tua. The Dolphins are a quarterback away from being a true contender. If Tua can in fact stay healthy they could be dangerous in 2023.
