Five Biggest Winners of Free Agency | What Five Teams struck Gold on Day 1?

Free Agency kicked off yesterday and some teams did way better than others. Obviously, this is an opinionated article and I could be dead wrong by the end of this year, but let’s talk about the biggest winners in my opinion from Day 1 of Free Agency.

Chicago Bears – The Bears and Ryan Poles have done a terrific job at landing some big time players for the Bears. The Bears offense is pretty solid, but the team added some key pieces to their defense like Tremaine Edmunds, TJ Edwards, DeMarcus Walker and they also added some reinforcement on the offensive line in Nate Davis. I love this class, so far the Bears have hit on all very productive players who can be easily coached.

Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs lost an offensive lineman and they replaced him with a younger and better player in Jawaan Taylor. The team finds a way to land players who will grow with their foundation. Taylor is a very solid and young prospect who will be a staple of their offensive line for years to come. This was their splash signing and it was a home run.

Miami Dolphins – While the Jets are playing Checkers, the Dolphins are playing Chess and dominating. The best contract of any yesterday was David Long to the Dolphins. That was a freaking steal. Add in the fact they signed Mike White to backup Tua, and re-signed Duke Riley, the Dolphins continue to make minor moves that will make their team better. I love this day for the Phins.

Atlanta Falcons – The Falcons made an amazing move by adding Jessie Bates III, but let’s remember they locked up their best offensive lineman to a restructured deal, traded a pick they landed from the Buffalo Bills for Dean Marlowe to the Patriots to ultimately land Jonnu Smith who was a huge asset in Arthur Smith’s offense back in Tennessee. The Falcons had a good day on adding players like David Onyemata and Kaden Elliss too. Great day for the Dirty Birds.

San Francisco 49ers – THE RICH GET RICHER. Adding Javon Hargrave to an already stacked defense is exactly what I would expect from the Niners. The Niners adding Sam Darnold as well to back up Trey Lance and Brock Purdy was a solid move. Overall the Niners made some decent moves and they keep getting stronger on the defensive side of the ball.
