Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in Salary Cap Hell | Half the NFL is Over the Salary Cap

The Salary Cap is rising but it still will not help some teams. There are currently 16 teams or half of the NFL that are over the salary cap.

Here are the numbers according to Outkick:

  1. The Steelers are approximately $140,000 over the cap.
  2. The Jets are approximately $2.4 million over.
  3. The Eagles are approximately $2.75 million over.
  4. The Cowboys are approximately $7.2 million over.
  5. The Packers are approximately $8.8 million over.
  6. The Panthers are between $7.5-$8.1 million over.
  7. The Packers are approximately $9 million over.
  8. The Dolphins are approximately $13-$14 million over.
  9. The Browns are approximately $13.8 million over.
  10. The Rams are approximately $15.2 million over.
  11. The Bills are approximately $17.4 million over.
  12. The Chargers are approximately $19.6 million over.
  13. The Vikings are approximately $22.7 million over.
  14. The Jaguars are approximately $23 million over.
  15. The Saints are approximately $35 million over.
  16. The Buccaneers are between $55-$55.6 million over.

The one team that seems to be in the worst situation is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers were hit with the Tom Brady news and that is ultimately what put them in a horrible situation.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers maybe forced to let Kyle Trask be the starter for one year, because they may not be able to sign a veteran quarterback with their cap situation. I would not be surprised if the Buccaneers break up the team and start sending players via trade to get under the cap. One player to keep an eye on is Mike Evans.

Yesterday, the Tennessee Titans began cutting players. They are not on the list, because they freed up over 30 million dollars yesterday by cutting guys like Taylor Lewan, Robert Woods, and Randy Bullock.

The Titans will have a decision to make with Ryan Tannehill too. I wonder if they could be in the mix for a new quarterback? Maybe they will make a few trades as well!
