What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I originally was a basketball player since I was a little kid, it wasn’t until my senior year of high school I decided I wanted to play football. I had this feeling that God wanted me to go in a different direction and following that feeling has led me to football and it’s worked out well thankfully.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Playing in the NFL has been a goal of mine since I got to college. To be at a level where you can play against the best in the world is a privilege I hope to be afforded. I would like to use that platform to speak life into young students also.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present?

Shannon Sharpe, he’s a hall of famer who loves the game and I feel like he has a lot of wisdom to offer.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Number one would be beating Wisconsin this past season in Madison. We were big underdogs coming into the game but we didn’t let that discourage us and we came away with the victory. That’ll always be my favorite memory on the field. Next would be hearing our senior speeches and seeing the love our team has for each other, it was inspiring to say the least.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mom, she’s been a consistent rock in my life and someone I can always go to for advice and encouragement. Her and my older brother Garrett have played the biggest role in my development as a man.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

We ran a makeshift air-raid offense this past season that I really enjoyed. I love pass protection and work hard on my techniques daily.

What should we know about Grant Stephens the person?

That I love football but more than that I love serving my peers and my community. I would argue my passion for people and being my best even surpasses my love for football. This game has given so much to me and I look forward to where it’s going to take me next.

What stands out about your film the most?

I’d say consistency, natural strength and intelligence. I’ve played a lot of football and have a ton of experience and I think you can see that on film.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I pride myself on not getting to high or too low emotionally. If you understand that challenges will come you’ll be equipped to handle them. I stay prayerful and consistent with my work, and through that I’m able to meet every challenge.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A consistent hard worker willing to step into whatever role a team needs. A compassionate teammate and person who wants to represent himself and the organization well.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The competition alongside your brothers. The hours we spend together committed to accomplishing a specific goal. There’s nothing like that brotherhood.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Konnor Gomness, he was a starting center this year. He’s a great leader and a great player with a bright future.
