Week 8 Small School Top Performers | Presented by Caribe Royale Orlando Hula Bowl

The Caribe Royale Orlando Hula Bowl will be played in Orlando, Florida on January 13th, 2024 and is televised on CBS Sports. The scouts of NFL Draft Diamonds have worked for the past three years as the scouting staff for the Hula Bowl. We are excited to get the 2023-24 season underway, and had scouts in attendance to 11 games this week. With tons of great football games in the NCAA this week, we wanted to break down several of the Top Performers in the Small Schoolers that would have eligibility to play in our game. Let’s break down some of the best performances from week 8.

Jermaine Corbett, RB, Stonehill – Against Sacred Heart, Corbett dominated running the ball 33 times for 146 yards scoring twice. Corbett helped lift Stonehill passed Sacred Heart in a huge win.

Matthew Sluka, QB, Holy Cross – Sluka struggled to move the ball through the air, but he absolutely shredded Lafayette on the ground. Sluka finished with 330 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns on 28 carries. He also threw 21 passes completing 7 for 85 yards and adding another touchdown through the air.

Ryan Flournoy, WR, SEMO – The freaky athletic wide receiver from SEMO had a big time game. He helped SE Missouri win 28-3, with a six catch performance, that went for 203 yards and 1 touchdown. He is trending upwards towards hearing his name called in April.

Jack Culbreath, P, VMI – The senior averaged 48.1 yards per punt and handled the kickoff duties in the game, where he kicked two touchbacks on three opportunities. In the third quarter, Culbreath nailed a career-high 76-yard punt, which was downed at the 9-yard line.

Taymon Cooke, WR/KR, NC A&T – Cooke returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the third time this season, racing 91 yards for a first-half score during North Carolina A&T’s 33-10 setback to Richmond. While also matching the school’s all-time record with a fourth kickoff return TD, Cooke added a 15-yard return, a reception and one carry while gaining 108 all-purpose yards. He ranks No. 1 in the FCS with a 41.5-yard average on 11 kickoff returns.
