What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My dad played football at the University of Florida and won SEC championships and a national championship there so I always wanted to achieve more than him.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Signing to play football in college to Southern Miss and also catching my first interception against in my first college football game. Then next would be receiving our conference championship rings here at University of West Florida.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

Both of my parents inspire me, I’ve seen my dad be a great role model and man in my life and also my mother for always showing a great amount of strength and really both of them for teaching me the importance of having a relationship with God.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Darius Slay because he is a great player and seems to be an even better person. I would love to pick his brain about an array of topics.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

If you watch me play or ask any of my teammates about me I usually have the most energy and I’m turned up to the max all the time.

What is your favorite coverage and why?

My favorite coverage is “1” whether if I’m the deep man free roaming the field or if I’m asked to press someone up and take him out of the play.

What should we know about Shannon Showers the person?

I love God and I love my family everything I do is for those things alone. I will always go hard because of them.

What stands out about your film the most?

I’m very versatile, I can press, play off, play man or zone and I tackle well in space. Whatever is asked of me as a DB I can do even playing multiple positions.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Well first off I pray all the time about everything and next, no matter what it is I figure out what I can do better in the situation and work towards just that.

What would a team get in a player like you?

You’re going to get someone who not only expects a lot from himself but from his teammates and I’m always working to better myself and the team. I’m my own biggest critique.

What are your favorite things about playing football for West Florida?

Playing in the amazing state of Florida where my family can travel to the games and with most of my team being from there I feel we play with that swag that only Florida has.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

On offense I’ll have to say Larry Rembert, on a team full of playmakers he fits right into that mode having great speed and hands. On defense I’ll have to say De’mareyae Givens, he’s always ready to do his job and make a play when we need it.
