Player Summary
6th yr GR EDGE who lines up predominantly in a 2 pt stance in the 2-4-5 nickel defense of SCUN. He transferred to SCUN from GAST prior to the 2021 season. He has good height, marginal weight, and solid speed with marginal length and a lean build. He is a good athlete showing a combination of good explosiveness, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility, solid COD, and balance with good play speed. Against the pass he is solid. He shows a good burst off the ball with solid hip and ankle flexion as he bends at the apex. He displays quick, active hands as he executes a chop club move and swats the outside arm away of OT with subpar hand timing as he sheds the block. He shows good play speed with a solid motor in pursuit as he hurries the QB or finishes off with a sack. In addition to the chop club, his pass rush move repertoire also consists of a bullrush, long arm, and rip move. He effectively uses his good lateral quickness and agility to twist towards the A gap. In rare instances where he is asked to be in coverage, he displays quality ability to stay with athletic TE in the flat in man and zone. He is above-average against the run. He is quick off the ball and uses his good play speed, range, acceleration, and instincts to quickly locate and chase down RB with adequate AA from the backside on outside zone runs. Good mental toughness as he plays well in big games. Ordinary UOH, marginal length and subpar play strength prevents him from disengaging quickly against OT with good length, UOH, and play strength when he tries to bullrush. Struggles to consistently disengage from the base and double team blocks from TE and OT with good leverage, physical toughness, play strength, and UOH due to his ordinary UOH and inconsistent pad level when he tries to set the edge.
