What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

My parents told me since I was a kid I always gravitated towards the football and from the time I could I was in a league and I just fell in love with it.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Larry Allen he’s someone I would watch his highlights every day as a kid and try and do what he does on the field and his work ethic he also seems like a great person off the field to be around.

What are your favorite things about playing football for UMHB?

Playing here I love how our team culture is from day 1 we are told it’s a family and it truly is in every aspect of the sport also winning a couple national championships isn’t bad either.

What sets you apart from other offensive linemen?

My mental approach to the game with understanding my opponent and the game so when I’m in the game nothing will surprise me and my mentality in the game with my physicality and will to win.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

Being considered a veteran on my team now I bring the knowledge aspect to the game being someone the team can lean on in a time of need or if we’re down the one that will be looked at to flip the switch and get us back in the game.

What should we know about Jeffery Sims the person?

I’m really a laid back person don’t like to do too much but play football and chill with my friends. I am a strong Christian always have been in the church as much as I can be and take academics very serious with me being a strong family person my parents always supported me but also instilled in me the importance of academics.

What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Having confidence in yourself and in your game to be able to play at the best of your ability having trust in your teammates that each of you are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done and hard work and discipline too with studying the game and working out to make sure you are at your best when game time comes.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

I love zone schemes and rpo’s it puts the defense at a huge disadvantage especially if you have the correct weapons to execute the scheme.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I lean on God and my family a lot with things In life we all go through struggles in life and life can knock us down but it’s about how we fight back with it so I just pray and ask for guidance on how to get over what is In front of me and on the field I lean on my brothers the man next to me for extra strength when needed to know we are going to get back in the game and it will all be alright.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A dedicated and hard working player who is willing to do whatever it takes for the team and the organization and a servant leader who will lead by example instead of with words.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

Looking forward to winning a 3rd national championship and going back to back making history with my team.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

That’s hard I’ve played with a lot of great players but I’d have to say it’s a tie between my high school qb Garret Cody and my high school qb Palmer Nix both were amazing players but didn’t get the recognition they deserved because of their height both were for sure d1 players who got over looked.
