The USFL is back and it has produced some pretty good football. I wanted to take a few moments to talk about several players who have really helped themselves in the USFL this year. I am going to pick five players who really could get a shot in the NFL if they keep performing. I know for fact several scouts were in attendance to scout the players this past week. Let’s talk about five guys who have done a great job through seven weeks in the USFL.

Will Likely and Channing Stribling – Both these cornerbacks are playing lights out right now in the USFL. Will Likely is a Belle Glade, Florida native who is tied with Stribling as the league leader with 4 interceptions. Likely is an outstanding return man as well. The 27 year old cornerback is dominating right now for the Houston Gamblers. Stribling the 27 year old from Michigan is also having a great year. He has played for several teams but if an NFL team is looking for a veteran player both Likely and Stribling are playing at a high level. Stribling plays for the Philadelphia Stars, and is averaging an interception per game right now.

Chris Odom – NFL teams are always looking for players that can get to the quarterback. Chris Odom has 8 sacks in two games. He also has 20 tackles and is the top defensive end in the league. Odom is a 27-year-old as well who has spent time in the NFL. At 6’4 and 258 pounds and with the production he has been accomplishing at the USFL level I would not be shocked if someone brought him in for a workout.

Donald Payne – The Payne Train is absolutely killing the USFL. He is the tackle leader after six games and has racked up 76 tackles in six games with 2 sacks. Payne played college football at Stetson University and was a special team ace in the NFL. Payne is 27 as well, but he will get a shot. The 5’11 linebacker has a nose for the ball and is always making plays.

Kavontae Turpin – The former TCU waterbug is a playmaker. The kid has 29 receptions and 2 touchdowns but has 341 yards and 199 yards after the catch. He is so damn elusive, and is one of the fastest players on the field. Turpin is only 5’8 but he is one of the quickest players, and if a team is looking for a guy to play the slot or to be utilized like Isaiah McKenzie of the Bills, he could be a great addition. He is only 25 years old, I would not be shocked if he gets a shot.
