What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

First thing is controlling the controllables. Attitude and effort. Next most important thing is knowing what you are doing. Knowing the ins and outs of your assignments so you can play freely and not thinking about missing an assignment.

If there was a billboard with 5 of your traits on it which 5 traits would be up there?

Selfless, tough, accountable, disciplined, and hungry.

What sets you apart from other running backs?

My ability to catch the ball out of the backfield , and also line up in the slot and run routes that aren’t running back specific. Also my ability in the return game.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I take all challenges in my life and on the football field head on. I try to see them as opportunities to do better or push myself harder rather than just an obstacle. I believe most challenges in life and in football can be resolved with the right mindset.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would probably hang with Odell for a day. I’ve been a huge fan since he was in college and I think I’d be able to learn a lot about the game from him even though I play RB I think my biggest skill set will be used in a receiver type back position and I think I would benefit a lot from it.

What should we know about DeAndre Torrey the person?

I try my best to be humble, I am a hard worker. I am dedicated to achieve the goals I have set out for myself. I’m still young and I am still learning but I try to be a man of great integrity. I’m thankful and blessed and I know that I wouldn’t be where I am without help from the higher power. And no matter what situation I am presented with, I will always give my best. I am not perfect. I make mistakes just like anyone else and will continue to make mistakes for as long as I live, but I always have good intentions and try to get just a little bit better everyday.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I don’t believe it was something I chose. Ever since I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a pro athlete. My love for the game was always there from the first time I touched the ball. This has always been what I wanted to do.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I bring the type of energy that could change the game. I’ve always been a spark to whatever team I’m on whether it be football or another sport. I try to keep my energy high at all times.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

One of my favorite moments from my football life was me signing my junior college scholarship in high school. My whole family was there it was in front of the entire school and I felt like I had accomplished a life long goal of mines. My most recent favorite moment was my last game in Apogee against UTSA. They were ranked, undefeated,it was our senior night, and we were one win away from being bowl eligible. We beat them, spoiled their perfect season, became bowl eligible, while I also had probably the best run of my career.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A dependable, accountable, great teammate who’s willing to do whatever it takes to win. A guy who doesn’t need the star role to impact the team in a huge way. And simply just a guy that you would love to coach.

How are you planning to prepare for the draft?

By doing what I’ve been doing my whole life, working as hard as I can. Eating the right meals, film study, everything I need to do become the best version of me.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I want to win a championship. I want to inspire as many people as I can to believe that their dreams can come true no matter the odds. I want to be one of the best.
