Star North Texas wide receiver Deonte Simpson dismissed from the football team after striking his girlfriend and hospitalizing her.
Deonte Simpson is a very good football player. After Jaelon Darden left, someone needed to step up on the football field and Simpson was that player for the Mean Green.
Unfortunately, Simpson is in some trouble. The star wideout was arrested for assault. Simpson was detained by Denton Police for “assault causes bodily injury family member” late Tuesday night, according to The Denton Record-Chronicle, and was immediately dismissed from the UNT football program after.
“Effective immediately, Deonte Simpson has been dismissed from the North Texas football program,” Mean Green head coach Seth Littrell said in a statement on MeanGreen247.com.
Officers stated that Simpson struck his girlfriend. The woman was reportedly hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Simpson has 800 plus yards receiving and 6 touchdowns in his three years with the Mean Green.
