NFL Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Tracey Kozak, Tight End

Free Agent tight end Tracey Kozak recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Justin Berendzen. Check it out!

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being career football players. So I hope you all read this interview about Tracey and follow his journey on social media!

1.What are you hoping to achieve as a football player going forward?

I want to get an NFL contract.

2.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Present Patrick Mahomes, just a fan of his game. Past Ray Lewis, I was a huge fan of his game growing up plus I used to play defense and Ray Lewis is my favorite athlete of all time.

3.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I definitely bring a spark when I need to but not too high or too low. I’ve learned over the years what the team needs at a certain time treating each teammate differently they all need different types of things at different times.

4.What sets you apart from other tight ends?

I’m a prototype for a TE,  just my story tells I got a dog in me on the field. But off the field, I pride myself on being humble I believe that there is a fine line in that.

5.What is your typical training routine?

Mondays I usually speed and weight like sprints. Then breakfast and vitamins. My morning that’s when I get my film work. During when covid hit I was catching balls any way you could and I put on like 30 pounds of muscle.

6.What should we know about Tracey Kozak the person?

For me it’s 3 points faith, family and football. I find myself in all 3 of those categories.

7.What is a moment that improved you as a football player?

Probably that covid year we all forget about I was catching 5 thousand balls a week and that’s when I took my game to another level.

8.How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

Handle them with humility and urgency. Because of the mistakes, we have sometimes think we have more time than we actually do.

9.What do you love about the game of football?

I love competing but competing is more than just that game day like if you skip something it shows up on the field so you have to go hard in everything and that’s what I pride myself on.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?

The hardest worker in the room.

11.What are you still learning as a football player?

Right now what I’m learning is how a tight end shapes eyes and body control. So things Darren Waller and Travis Kelce do, so linemen and catching balls as receivers and reading coverages.  And just knowing what the other 10 people on offense are doing so we work as a unit.

12. What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

It’s the only place that I feel alive nothing else gives me that feeling.
