Bills clear cap space by restructuring the contract of Stefon Diggs, could they be in the Zach Ertz hunt?

The Eagles are shopping tight end Zach Ertz, and if the Bills can somehow land him he could turn the playoff team into a Super Bowl team.

Today the Buffalo Bills freed up quite a bit of cap space by restructuring the contract of Stefon Diggs. Bills had $3,620,582 in cap space, per NFLPA, which would put them over $11 million under the cap after Diggs savings. Zach Ertz’s salary is $8.25 million.

Could the Bills could add Zach Ertz and his $8.25 million salary before the start of the season?

The Eagles can free up $8.5 million if they cut or trade Ertz after June 1.

The Bills are either going to extend Josh Allen, Tremaine Edmunds or make a splash. They have two roster spots available right now, and they should absolutely make a splash. The Bills were just one game away, you have to make a splash. This is the time to do it.

The Bills lacked a pass rush last year when playing the Kansas City Chiefs and they added some help in the first round of the draft by adding former Miami Hurricane pass rusher Gregory Rousseau, then added another edge rusher in Round 2 when they selected Boogie Basham from Wake Forest.

The Bills are not many pieces away at this point. They are getting Star Lotulelei back which is going to solidify their defensive line. The Bills were already stout on defense but they were lacking a true running back and a solid pass catching tight end. If the Bills can add Zach Ertz, it could be monumental to Brian Daboll’s offense and the growth of Josh Allen.

I know it is expensive, but I think with the addition of Emmanuel Sanders and Zach Ertz, the Bills would immediately increase their odds to win the Super Bowl, but they would have to execute. Now is the time, some of the defensive players are getting older, you cannot wait. You have to do everything you can to make the push.
