Gary Barnidge Buffalo Bills Update
Gary Barnidge the free agent tight end formerly of the Cleveland Browns had a visit today with the Buffalo Bills coaching staff and absolutely loved it.
From a source close to the situation, Barnidge loved his visit with the Bills and could really see himself playing the city of Buffalo. Barnidge met with Sean McDermott and the Bills staff. The Bills seem very interested in the former Browns tight end as well.
All signs point to the Bills wanting to make a contract offer to Barnidge who have very little depth on their roster behind Charles Clay. The only hold up in Buffalo right now is they have no General Manager. We believe the Bills will want to have a GM in place before making any major moves. The Bills could have a GM in place by the weekend and if they do, I would not be surprised to see the Bills offer Gary Barnidge a contract.
Other teams to keep an eye on are the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers. Gary has two more visits lined up next week, but then will pause to attend the Kentucky Derby. We are learning that over 12 teams have interest in him and would like to bring him in for a visit. If the Bills hire Brandon Beane do not be surprised if Gary is offered a contract. Both are very comfortable with Barnidge. The only hold up maybe if the Panthers block the move for Beane. While it would be crappy, it could happen.
