Who is the best player in the 2017 NFL Draft? Scouts think it is an easy decision
Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel, has one of the nicest stretch of articles before the draft. He released his best defensive player in the draft.
In a Journal Sentinel poll asking 16 executives in personnel to identify the best player regardless of position, Texas A&M’s Garrett got 11 votes compared to two for LSU safety Jamal Adams and one each for Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster, Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon and Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas.
The scouts also were asked to name their favorite player in the draft, someone they enjoyed watching and interviewing.
The leaders, with two votes each, were Adams, Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and Thomas.
Seven players drew one vote: Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis, Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis, Foster, Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers, San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey, Washington wide receiver John Ross and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Splitting one vote were Ohio State safety Malik Hooker and Temple linebacker Haason Reddick.
