A 15-year-old boy who was killed after being ejected from his car in a car crash was identified as a Taft High School student-athlete.

According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Dominic Hernandez died from injuries suffered in the crash, which happened just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 7200 block of Culebra Commons.

According to KSAT, Hernandez was riding in the back of a white 2011 BMW sedan that was traveling at a high rate of speed going south on Culebra Commons.

The car went around a curve too fast and crashed into the concrete footing of a safety rail.

Hernandez was ejected from the back of the BMW and landed about 15 feet below the road, in a culvert, SAPD said. He was pronounced dead at 3:46 a.m. Sunday

Please keep the Hernandez family in your prayers during this tough time.
