Johnny Johnson III Scouting Report |2021 NFL Draft |Oregon WR

Johnny Johnson III Oregon
Johnny Johnson III is a big-time playmaking wide receiver from Oregon. Ryan Fernandez of NFL Draft Diamonds breaks down his game.
  • Name: Johnny Johnson III
  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • School: Oregon
  • Height: 6’0
  • Weight: 199
  • 2019 Statistics: 57 Receptions, 836 Yards, and 7 Touchdowns

When watching Johnny Johnson III on film the first thing you notice is his love for contact. Every coach admires a receiver who does the dirty work when it comes to blocking and Johnny Johnson III does just that and you can tell he takes pride in his blocking.

Johnny Johnson is a smooth route runner where he can make separation with his crisp route running. On top of his route running ability, he is a natural hands catcher which helps to protect the ball on certain throws with his quarterback.

Another thing that stands out is he is very passionate about his team and celebrates every time one of his teammates makes a huge play.

That shows how he could be such a great teammate and locker room guy. He is the type of player you want on your team, he isn’t selfish and will do whatever it takes for his team to win. He would be an excellent number 2 or 3 receivers on the field and make an impact quickly that way.

I could see him lining up alongside Davante Adams and complementing him well, especially with a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers who can get him the ball consistently. Johnny Johnson III reminds me a lot of Kenny Stills as they both are playmakers that have the ability to track the deep ball well and make a play out in space.
