Week 9 Fantasy Studs: Wide Receiver Position

The Packers might have just lost their best wide out to a torn ACL
Jordy Nelson is a must play this week

Week 9 Fantasy Studs   Reed Spangenberg

Wide Receiver:

Michael Thomas vs. SF.

-Thomas is proving to be a dangerous weapon and a reliable receiver for Drew Brees. Last week he managed to catch all six of his targets for 63 yards and he was going against arguably the best defensive backs in the game. San Francisco’s one bright spot on the team is their pass defense, but Drew Brees has enough experience to get the ball to his open receivers and I expect Thomas to be on the opposite end of many of his passes.

Demaryius Thomas vs. OAK.

-Whenever Thomas appears to have an advantage over the opposition he has capitalized and this week the Broncos play the Raiders, who have struggled defensively all season. Thomas tallied five receptions for 79 yards last week and Trevor Siemian seems to be trusting him more. Thomas should be a safe start this week.

Dez Bryant vs. CLE.

-The Cowboys have been successful all season despite playing without Bryant for multiple games, but Dak Prescott welcomed his Pro Bowl receiver back from injury last week by targeting him 14 times. Bryant only managed to hull in 4 of those passes, but they accounted for 113 yards and a TD. Cleveland hasn’t been successful in any way, shape, or form this season and Dallas is going to make sure that doesn’t change this week.

Stefon Diggs vs. DET.

-Detroit grades out near the bottom of the league against the pass and Diggs has become one of the Sam Bradford’s favorite receivers. He was targeted 13 times against Chicago and as one of the few positives in the Minnesota offense, will probably draw many targets against the Lions as well.

Jordy Nelson vs. IND.

-Indianapolis has been awful stopping QBs through the air (31st) and the Packers have been on fire offensively through the air… I think I got my point across.  Meanwhile, Jordy Nelson has 6 TDs so far this season, while the Colts defense has allowed receivers to find the end zone 14 times. Nelson has a knack for finding the EZ and he has a good opportunity to display this talent in week 9.
