The Los Angeles Rams have a tough decision to make regarding their two starting cornerbacks. Both Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson have turned into good players, but they are both looking for new deals.  Yesterday, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Dispatch reported that the Rams may be looking to use their transition tage on Trumaine Johnson.

Heard earlier this offseason that team might place transition tag on CB Trumaine Johnson if unable to get long-term deal.
In 2015, Johnson appeared in 14 games and recorded 71 tackles, seven interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery and 17 pass defenses.

What is the Transition Tag?

The transition tag is rare and gives the player a one-year salary average of the top 10 highest paid players at the position. The original team can then match any contract offered by another team to the transition tag player. If the original team doesn’t match the offer, it does not receive any compensation.
