Player Summary:

5th YR SR and 1 yr full-time starter at EDGE where he aligns in a 5T, 7T and in a 2 pt stance in the 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 Nickel defense of WAEA. He transferred from CAFR in ’23 and was previously at CAAR. He possesses adequate height with moderate weight and good speed with an athletic build. He is an above-average athlete showing a combination of good acceleration, lateral quickness and agility, solid explosiveness, COD and balance with above-average play speed. He is solid against the run. He is quick off the ball and exhibits solid UOH as he delivers a well-timed punch to the frame of the OT with subpar length and grip strength before disengaging. He locates the RB before making the tackle in his gap. If left unblocked, he shows good range and instincts as he pursues from the backside taking good angles before exhibiting solid explosiveness as he makes the tackle on RB with adequate play speed. He is a solid pass rusher. He shows sufficient get-off before exhibiting solid UOH in his punch, placement and timing as he executes a bullrush. He exhibits decent play strength as he disengages from OT with ordinary size and grip strength. He plays with a very good motor in pursuit before finishing up with a sack or QBH. He exhibits average counter ability as he executes a rip if stalemated initially at the LOS. He exhibits good lateral quickness and agility as he crashes through the A/B gap. He exhibits solid mental toughness as he elevates his play in the redzone. He exhibits mediocre hip and ankle flexion as he attempts to bend at the apex which causes him to be stalemated by OT who bend at the knee. He possesses an adequate pass rush move repertoire which consists of mainly a bullrush with an occasional rip or spin move. Ordinary form tackling ability causes him to miss tackles against RB with good SAQ and play speed.

Scheme Fit:

EDGE in 3-4

Power Statement:

Athletic, intelligent player who is solid against the run and pass. Lacks quality flexibility and form tackling which prevents him from disengaging quickly against flexible OT and causes him to miss tackles against shifty RB.
