Oklahoma Freshman running back breaks Melvin Gordon’s 7 day old record

Oklahoma’s freshman running back Samaje Perine, who ran for over 200 yards against West Virginia and Texas Tech and had 14 rushing touchdowns before Saturday’s game, broke an FBS record today.

He broke an FBS rushing record that was held by recent record breaker Melvin Gordon. The FBS record lasted 7 days in Melvin Gordon’s hands.

While Gordon ran for 408 yards in just 3 quarters, you cannot just write off Perine’s performance, because he did not even start the game for OU.

One thing to remember is his Alumni and friends paid attention. A matter of fact Barry Switzer even loved it.

@Barry_Switzer: Congrats to Samaje Perine for rushing 427 yards against Kansas, setting the new NCAA record. #coachescabana #Sooners
