NFL Draft

Hula Bowl Mid Season Awards | Find out who is the hottest name and the biggest disappointment

Bryce Rodgers UC Davis
UC Davis defensive lineman Bryce Rodgers is a big time playmaker. I love this kids film, he continues to shine.

By: Antoine Tshiyombo @draftday101

Favorite to be the top pick: Kayvon Thibodeaux Edge Oregon: Has only appeared in 4 games but seems to be a lock top 5 guy because when he has been he has been a machine displaying bend speed and power. He has a pass rush rate of 20 percent of his pass rush reps meaning he gets pressure on the QB one of every five drop backs.

Most Polarizing: Malik Willis Quarterback Liberty: Some people love his game some people think he is a project at best that’s just capitalizing on a sub par class. But one thing can’t be denied is his physical tools. With a wicked arm and a physical runner with Jets. I can see why people fall in love with him but he also misses pass to open wide Receiver and has poor throwing fundamentals.

FBS top performerAidan Hutchinson Edge Michigan: Nobody has won me more this season than Aiden Hutchinson who has been outstanding not only Rushing the passer this season but holding his gap integrity in run support. His physical freakish ability finally has been put on for the world to see under new defensive wonder Mike MacDonald.

Can’t sleep on anymoreJerreth Sterns Wide Receiver Western Kentucky: Sterns is a transfer from Houston Baptist and has arrived to the FBS ranks with a bang 107 yard game in week 1 vs Tennessee. That wasn’t even his biggest game as he had a 221 yard game vs old Dominion. He has scored a Touchdown in every game this year outside of one and this 5”8 jitter bug does all his work in the slot really if your looking for a Cole Beasley type guy. He will likely go day 3 because of physical limitations but he has a carved role for the next level if someone is willing to invest.

FCS top performer: Bryce Rodgers Defensive lineman UC Davis: Rodgers has been super productive for the 6th year senior but has also been doing a lot of dirty work while getting pressure at 9% of his pass rush reps playing 3 technique for the Aggies.

Biggest let downSpencer Rattler Quarterback Oklahoma: Not only was he the favorite to be the number one pick in 2022 but was favorite to win The Heisman Trophy. Now he is on the bench for poor play. lack of progression and a freshman out playing him in the biggest stage in the cotton bowl vs Texas. I haven’t seen a guy fall this much from grace and I am banking he will transfer and go to another school next year instead of a trip to Vegas for the draft.

Biggest positive surpriseChad Muma Linebacker Wyoming: The timing of this might be wrong because he coming off one of his worst games but in a 7 game sample size it’s by far the worst considering how great he has been. He is now in top 100 pick. Having a ton of success in coverage where linebacker are being exposed more than ever and it’s harder and harder to keep guys on the field.

Most underated player: Cole Johnson Quarterback James Madison: His 17 TD’s to 1 interception is impressive. Cole has smooth touch. Cole is well accomplished but still isn’t getting the recognition in big time media. He is careful with the ball and a solid to good anticipation skills. But has a good enough arm to throw to the outside.
