Draft Breakdown

What Small School division produces the Most Draft Picks?

The small school division that produces the most NFL Draft picks through the past decade was the CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) conference.

We have been breaking down the Draft Picks over the past decade from each small school division. Yesterday we broke down all the draft picks from small schools over the past decade, coming up with 246 small schoolers being drafted.

I was contacted by several coaches and players wanting to know which conference had the most draft picks. So I broke it down by division. Let’s check it out!

  • FCS: 184
  • Division 2: 52
  • Division 3: 4
  • NAIA: 1
  • Canada: 3
  • Germany: 1
  • Rugby League: 1

The conference that produces the most NFL Draft picks through the past decade was the CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) conference.

The crazy thing is 30 thirty HBCU players were drafted in the past 11 years, with five being drafted from Tennessee State alone. I think it is important to see on paper, because your chances of getting drafted from Division 3 and the NAIA are extremely rare. Not many get drafted in the NFL.
