Patriots have interest in both QB Tom Savage and TE Richard Rodgers

The New England Patriots usually do not let their news out of the bag like other teams, so this information could be considered a reach, but it seems like the Patriots have interest in both Tom Savage and Richard Rodgers.

According to Tony Pauline the Patriots are “incredibly high” on Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage and “will consider using a pick to acquire the signal caller during the draft.”

Pauline says the Patriots consider Tom Savage as Brady #2. He went on to say,

“I’m told Savage impressed the franchise during combine interviews, especially when former Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano was on hand,” wrote Pauline. “Evidently Savage took responsibility for the 2011 situation when he left the Rutgers football program, which was then headed by Schiano. Both the Patriots and Schiano were impressed by Savage’s maturity in discussing his departure.”

Pauline also stated that Richard Rodgers of Cal is another one that the Patriots love.

Tony Pauline urges fans of the team to “keep an eye on” Cal’s Richard Rodgers. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior is a finesse, pass-carching tight end. Pauline stated that former Cal HC Jeff Tedford picked the brain of Patriots HC Bill Belichick about how to better utilize his tight ends corps.

It sounds like the Patriots could be looking to spend a few draft picks on a couple offensive weapons.
