What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I’ve decided I wanted to play football the minute I stepped on the field in 7th grade. I originally started playing soccer then basketball. Once I had my first football practice I knew it this was the sport for me.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

Becoming the player I know I can be getting better everyday, and putting myself in position to continue my football career next level.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

This is a tough one because there’s so many great players to choose from, but I’ll have to go with Luke Kuechly. He’s a student of the game, makes a ton of plays, and always seems to know what the offense is running week in week out. He seems well respected as a leader amongst his teammates as well as coaches.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite football moment in my life was in 2021 winning the CIAA championship. That’s something that can’t be taken from me long after my football days are over.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mom for sure. Seeing her raise me and my brothers as a single mother is inspirational. She’s always had the odds against her and she makes something out of nothing everytime. Just teaching me resilience and to chase my dreams regardless of how things may seem in the moment.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

3-4 would be my favorite. The versatility of that scheme fits me because I can play ILB as well as OLB. It’s good against the run and you can be creative with stunts or bringing extra pass rushers on blitzes.

What should we know about Ty Ferguson the person?

That I’m a dream chaser, true definition of an underdog. I’m willingly to put in the work to get to where I want to be in life. I pride myself on hard work, that’s just a testimony to my character because nothing was ever given to me it was earned.

What stands out about your film the most?

My versatility. Between my Juco and my 4 year film I played multiple positions on both offense and defense.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

By putting my best foot forward controlling what I can control, and not dwelling on things out of my control. Also being able to adjust real life or football life never goes as plan. How you react and the decisions I make help me face my challenges.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A leader by example. A person who will put the team first. Day in and day out do everything I have to do on and off the field to ensure us going 1-0 each week.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

Besides the fun and escaping reality on the field. I’d say what I love the most about the game of football is the doors it has opened up for me as well as the everlasting relationships I’ve built throughout my football career.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Christopher Ferguson. He lead our team this past year in yards per catch. He’s a hard worker I’ve seen his growth as a player.
