NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Ajee Patterson, QB, University of New Haven

Ajee Patterson the QB of New Haven has tons of athletic ability and he recently interviewed with us at Draft Diamonds

Tell us about your hometown, and what you love most about it?

I’m from Neptune, NJ it’s a small town. I love my hometown so much because everybody knows everybody and everyone supports each other. Also, I love it cause the beach is right there.

List these three in order of importance and why: Film Study, Strength and Conditioning and Practice?

Strength and conditioning because championships are won in the offseason. Then practice because you’re getting a lot of repetition with your teammates. Then studying film on your opponent and actually seeing what they do. 

What do you worry about, and why?

I worry about failing sometimes, not often though. I believe nobody wants to fail, but I believe if you do fail at something. If you try harder next time then I believe you can accomplish what you failed at.

Give me an example of when you failed at something. How did you react and how did you overcome failure?

Noting winning the starting job going into my sophomore year.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

Being a leader on and off the field.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

Najae Brown 

What would your career be if you couldn’t play football?

I would coach.

Room, desk, and car – which do you clean first?

Room, car, and desk.

If there was a disaster and you could either save three strangers or one family member, which would you choose and why?

I would save my family member because they are apart of me. 

If you could be any television or movie character, who would you be and why? I would be Stephen A. Smith because he is a funny guy and he knows his sports. 

Tell me about your biggest adversity in life and how you’ve dealt with or overcome it?

Only playing one year of high school football, I overcame that adversity by staying humble.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

Slipping and falling in the parking lot.

What was the most memorable play of your collegiate career?

Beating West Chester in the first round.

What is the most important trait you can have (Physical or Non-Physical) to help you succeed at the next level?  

Being smart, reading a defense and knowing the situation.

If you could bring one person back from the dead for one day, who would it be and why?

My grandfather because he was a big inspiration in my life.

If you were to open a dance club, what would you name it?

Pat P’s happy feet.

Who is the most underrated player in the NFL?

Keith Kirkwood.

Would you rather be liked or respected, and why?

I would rather be respected, everybody isn’t going to like me.

What player who had his career derailed by off-field issues do you feel for the most and why?

Kareem Hunt, I think he is a good player. Just made a bad decision.

Do you love to win, or hate to lose? Hate to lose.

Who has been the biggest influence on your life and explain why?

There have been a lot of people who have had a impact on my life. But I would say my family is my biggest influence because they keep me going and they keep me grounded. They never let my head get to big.
