Washington Redskins hire 27 year old as their next offensive coordinator

Today the Washington Redskins promoted Sean McVay to offensive coordinator.  McVay is only 27 years old and began his coaching career as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008. The following year, he was the wide receivers/quality control coach for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League. On January 14, 2014 he was promoted by new head coach Jay Gruden to offensive coordinator. McVay had worked with Gruden both in Tampa and in the UFL.

Obviously, he won’t be calling the plays, but he does understand what Gruden likes.  He is obviously a smart guy if Gruden wants to keep him around.  It will be interesting to see his role in Washington.
