Packers promote running backs coach Alex Van Pelt to QB coach
The Cleveland Browns hired Mike Pettine today, and he was rumored to be in love with Alex Van Pelt and his play calling ability. The rumor was that Pettine was going to try to lock Van Pelt up as his next OC in Cleveland. Well today the Packers made sure that Van Pelt was locked up in his own contract.
The Green Bay Packers promoted Alex Van Pelt today to quarterbacks coach. Van Pelt was a quarterback in his playing days, spending most of his NFL time with Buffalo, and has served as a quarterbacks coach for the Bills and Buccaneers before joining the Packers staff. Van Pelt has a year left on his deal, so the Packers are not required to permit him to interview for an offensive coordinator job.
